Congratulations to Sasha Alfille who is the winner of the Brill Award 2024 with The Wilko Corner, Old London Road.

Sasha, shown here receiving her reward from Deputy Mayor Councillor Elizabeth Park, won with her painting of the former Wilko /CA building. The two other finalists, whose work will also be added to the collection, submitted artworks of the Fire brigades Union building in Norbiton and the rear view of Surbiton Station.

The Brill Collection, which consists of over 130 original artworks begun in 1954 at the initiative of Reginald Brill, Head of Kingston College of Art, the Brill Collection includes actively commissioned or purchased works of art showing buildings and sites at risk of redevelopment within the Borough. The collection is a hugely important and unique record of a rapidly changing townscape.This competition is organised by the Friends of Kingston Museum and History Centre each year.
