Redevelopment consultation: Seething Wells

Further details from the Cascina website here

Cascina Limited, the controversial owners of the deliberately degraded Seething Wells site is seeking views on its latest scheme, having had all its previous submissions refused. Their website says “Surbiton Riverside is an area of previously developed land, separating adjacent areas of Surbiton from the River Thames.  It comprises redundant infrastructure, replaced by Thames Water with modern facilities to provide for London’s drinking water.

The vision for the site, through utilisation of available subterranean space for employment purposes, is to provide a large and diverse area of public open space for the benefit of the wider community.

The proposals are being widely reported, even making it onto the BBC’s news website

The BBC writes “A Cascina spokesperson said it was carrying out the initial consultation to establish what residents wanted to see in the proposed park.”  – which is a little surprising since the wishes of the community are well known to Cascina. A survey is open to responses until 1st December and you can find that here

We will respond in detail in due course. Frankly it is difficult to trust a developer with their track record and we suspect a ‘stalking horse’ designed  to disguise long terms plans.
