Townscape Awards 2023 – the short list and the winners – including the People’s Choice
Recognising excellence in built and green contributions to the townscape of the Borough of Kingston over the five years up to the present day.
The Kingston Society Townscape Awards are the most prestigious accolade in Kingston for excellence in architecture and landscape, and they have serve as an essential component of the Society’s mission to maintain and elevate excellence in the development of the townscape.
The Society again presented its prestigious Townscape Awards recognising built and green developments which in the Society’s view have done the most to enhance the environment in the Royal Borough.
In a well attended ceremony, our four winners received their awards from the Deputy Mayor – Councillor Richard Thorpe. The People’s Choice winners Queen’s Promenade Friendsreceived hundred of votes and demonstrated that given a choice the community welcomes human scale projects that carry clear benefits to the community and reflect values of caring and sharing. The awards for new buildings and refurbished buildings (awarded by a mixed jury) also gave a clear message that human scale developments best reflect the needs and wishes of our community.
